Hello

I’d like to take a little of your time to introduce myself.

My background has always been in learning disabilities and autism.  I started working in a special school as Behaviour Analysis and Sensory Lead Practitioner.  This role entailed supporting the learners through behaviour dysregulation and supporting with developing a bank of resources they will be able to utilise to manage their own emotional regulation.  I was also responsible for ensuring all of the learner’s sensory and physical needs were met.  I worked very closely with occupational therapists and physiotherapists to deliver sensory programmes, and interventions to the learners.  As part of this non-classroom-based role, I was also the medical lead for the school supporting individuals with diabetes, and complex epilepsy.

I then moved into adult social care, working in a supported living flat-based scheme with fourteen self-contained flats. I started as a Support Worker and within 3 months I had progressed to Team Leader.  It was in this role I met Kylie Burgess, we worked together very closely for a year before I moved on to Project Lead and Infection Control Officer across Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire for a social care provider.  In all of these roles, I supported adults with learning disabilities, challenges in their mental health, and acquired brain injuries.

From this, I returned to education as Wellbeing Support Officer for a special school.  Within this role, I was a Designated Safeguarding Lead for Children in Care and a positive behaviour support trainer in which I delivered bespoke training across the trust of specialist educational provisions.  My focus as Wellbeing Support Officer was supporting learners through crisis whether this be health-related or struggling with their behaviour.  I attended reviews with all professionals involved in the young persons' life, to provide a person-centred approach and ensure the young person is supported in a way that would enable them to thrive in life.

My most recent role, before moving to Totus Care, was with a supported living care provider in the Kettering area.  I was Deputy Service Manager, Autism Champion and Autism Trainer.

Throughout my carer, I have worked with a range of professionals and look forward to utilising my skills and contacts to support the development and good care Totus are already providing.

I am really looking forward to working with Totus Care and organically growing the provision we can offer.
